A STRANGE LOOP Original Cast Album to be Released!

Michael R. Jackson’s acclaimed musical A Strange Loop, which recently wrapped its extended Off-Broadway run at Playwrights Horizons, will release an original cast album September 27 on the Yellow Sound label.
Jackson wrote book, music, and lyrics for the musical that explores the thoughts of Usher, a black, queer writer working a job he hates while writing his original musical: a piece about a black, queer composer working a job he hates while writing his original musical.

SOFT BUTTER Musical Album Release
"Our ancestors. Gertrude Stein, James Baldwin, Nina Simone, but also the mothers in my family, trans activists in the 60s, anyone who hung out with Yoko Ono. Process, Undoing, Space, Transformation." This is Éamon Boylan's concoction of inspiration for Soft Butter: a trans fantasia on edible themes. The recording is set to be released on July 22nd on Spotify and iTunes. The voices of Soft Butter include Boylan, L Morgan Lee (A Strange Loop), Dana Aliya Levinson (Adam, The Dress You Have On), Esco Jouléy (Runaways, Galetea) and Milo Longenecker (suck + blow, AD of Sacred Circle Theatre Company). A Strange Loop features a book, music, and lyrics by 2017 Jonathan Larson Award and 2017 Lincoln Center Emerging Artist Award winner Jackson. The world premiere, presented in association with Page 73, is directed by Stephen Brackett with choreography by Raja Feather Kelly.
Performances are currently scheduled through July 7 at Playwrights.

MTF: Overnight Sensations
On Saturday, March 23, L Morgan has been asked to be a part of Musical Theater Factory’s inaugural edition of ’Overnight Sensations’, an evening of mini-musicals collaboratively devised by the talented artists of the Musical Theater Factory community. Four teams of directors, choreographers, writers, and actors will be randomly paired and tasked with creating a short original work overnight. After only one day in a rehearsal studio, these creations will be shared with an audience in an informal presentation at Playwright’s Downtown. This experimental lab is designed to incubate new collaborations and celebrate the excellence of the MTF community. Come out and support the newest of new work!

It is a mosaic of impressions, depicting trans sisterhood, strength and solidarity, a day in the life. Inspired by the radical lens of filmmaker, Agnés Varda, Femmebodies transcends trans trauma and moves to something new.
